AI-assisted business operations platform

I am building an operations platform for a field-service business that brings core workflows into a coherent system for people and controlled automation.

The problem

Operational work is fragmented across spreadsheets, accounting software, manual calculations, repeated data entry, and knowledge held by individuals. Pricing, estimates, invoices, jobs, labor and costs, and related information do not yet live in one coherent workflow.

Scope

I am building an application and data model to bring pricing, jobs, estimates, invoicing, accounting workflows, and operational information together. The goal is to make useful capabilities available to office and field staff; structured workflows and bounded agent interfaces are part of the direction, not a claim that those automations are already in production.

My contribution

I am shaping the application boundaries and workflows so deterministic business capabilities remain usable by people and can later be invoked through controlled automation. The system, not an agent, owns the business rules and records.

Architecture and technical decisions

  1. Keep the application and its data model authoritative for pricing, jobs, estimates, invoices, permissions, financial records, and business rules.

  2. Structure workflows and service capabilities before layering automation onto them; preserve external accounting integrations as integrations rather than sources of duplicated manual truth.

  3. Expose only bounded capabilities to automation and agent interfaces, so routine work can use application rules and records instead of bypassing them.

  4. Keep human involvement available where judgment or approval matters; treat broader agent-assisted workflows as future work until implemented and validated.

Constraints and qualifications

  • The application and its data model remain authoritative for business rules, permissions, and financial records.
  • Accounting and other external systems are integrations; the public description does not claim a completed synchronization or production automation.
  • Bounded agent interfaces are a design direction. Keep human judgment or approval in the workflow where it matters.

Guiding principles

  • Structure the domain and deterministic capabilities before adding AI-assisted operations.
  • Expose business capabilities through application-owned boundaries rather than making an agent the source of truth.
  • Distinguish what is being built from automation that remains future work.

Intended effect

Manual process → structured system → deterministic automation → AI-assisted operations. I am building the system foundations now; later automation will sit inside those business rules. No measured operational outcome is claimed.
